The 2024 Olympic torch set off from Olympia, Greece on April 16, and will land in Marseille, France on May 8. This will be followed by a 68-day tour of France and its overseas territories leading up to the Opening Ceremony in Paris on July 26, 2024.
To mark this we developed a short video animation detailing the entire route of the torch relay, and to display our generosity we’re giving it away for anyone to use 😉
This was based on the static graphic we published in July 2023:
The video was produced in Tumult Hype which we normally use for creating interactive graphics (more on those at another time) using a Motion path to move the torch around the country. As with all our interactive graphics and video, the text captions are stored in a json file, so that it can be easily edited or translated without learning any new skills, in a simple text editor.
